Hear Chester Bennington’s Incredible Isolated Vocals on ‘One More Light’
Chester Bennington’s stripped-down vocal melody on one of his last Linkin Park recordings serves as a touching tribute to the late rock legend. Keep tissues handy as you listen below.
A fan account isolated Bennington’s performance on “One More Light,” the title track from the final Linkin Park studio album that was released before the frontman tragically took his own life in 2017.
While hit Linkin Park songs like “Numb” and “Breaking the Habit” showcase Bennington’s ability to belt out layered parts with a powerful abrasive quality, his relatively sparse performance here lends itself beautifully to the uplifting major key of “One More Light.”
Listen to the original recording below:
Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda previously told Kerrang! that the song was originally written in honor of a friend of the group who died from cancer.
In the context of Bennington’s death, the lyrics and music have taken on a new meaning for many.
RIP, Chester.
