This Giant $900 Japanese Wagyu Burger Comes With a Magnum of Champagne

A Japanese restaurant is serving up a decidedly decadent $900 burger that’s fit for a king. Or rather, an emperor.

Chef Patrick Shimada of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo’s Oak Door steakhouse created the so-called “Golden Giant” to celebrate both Japan’s holiday-filled Golden Week and the ushering in of the new Reiwa imperial era under Emperor Naruhito, who will ascend his father’s throne on May 1.

The enormous 6.6-pound sandwich boasts Wagyu beef slices, foie gras, freshly shaved black truffles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese and a beef patty, all nestled between two gold-dusted buns.

Each order, which includes a side of triple-cooked giant fried potatoes and a magnum of champagne, red or white wine, serves 8 people.

Alternatively, the Oak Door also sells the smaller, similarly prepared “Golden R Burger” for $180.

A Forbes writer actually traveled all the way to Tokyo to find out either is worth the price. Here’s his verdict:

The answer is a resounding yes. The large burger in particular…is a steal for 8 people who will be paying around $112.5 per person.

The smaller version is a little pricier but for the quality and experience, it’s well worth the price.

Just be sure to book a reservation three days in advance if you and a crew want to take on the Golden Giant before it’s taken off the menu in June.

This Underwear Trend Is Quickly Dying

Hey, don’t roll your eyes just yet—underwear goes through trend cycles just like the rest of the ready-to-wear world, and we have a lingerie expert here to prove it. I don’t know about you, but lingerie fascinates me, as it’s an article of clothing basically everyone wears but never really talks about. It’s not necessarily taboo, but since it’s rarely seen, it goes undiscussed. If you’re someone who takes great pride and joy in your negligee drawer, this is quite disappointing.

Clearly, we’re about to talk in great detail about summer lingerie trends—summer underwear trends to be specific. We reached out to an expert on the matter to give us the 411 on which underwear styles are on the rise, and more importantly, which are quickly dying. Read on as Sandra Rose, VP of merchandising and brand at Journelle (one of the best lingerie destinations, if you ask me), spills some insider information on the underwear trends that are winning summer 2019 and why.

Don’t worry, as in typical Who What Wear fashion, we shopped out each trend she touches on so you can leave with refreshed trend knowledge and a full shopping cart.

The Blazer Trend That Will Dominate This Spring

It’s no big secret that a blazer is a go-to weapon in every fashion girl’s styling arsenal. You don’t need us to tell you should have the staple in failsafe black, navy, and a playful pop of color (a red or pastel pink blazer will move mountains—trust us) in your wardrobe at all times. But this season has given us reason to carve out one more spot in our wardrobes (sorry, Marie Kondo) for a bright white style you’re about to see everywhere.

So what’s all the hype about? The fresh color lightens up the tailored style’s typically heavy shape, which means it will prove to be even more versatile. Even in stiffer wools and acrylic fabrics, a white blazer manages to make the most buttoned-up office looks feel breezy and relaxed—just what the doctor ordered after a long winter of bundling up. And whether it’s rendered in linen or lightweight cotton, it’s sure to be the jacket you’ll be sporting to every brunch date this spring.
