‘Pablo’s Escoburgers’ Restaurant Blasted for Name, Serving Fake Cocaine on Burgers

Burger lovers are getting a taste of a legendary Colombian drug kingpin at a restaurant cheekily named Pablo’s Escoburgers in Melbourne, Australia–but not everyone thinks it’s funny.

As you might assume, the food at this Down Under burger joint is inspired by the infamous Pablo Escobar and the party favors he was famous for, and the menu is definitely not subtle about it.

For example, “The Patron Burger” is served with a line of white garlic powder on top of the bun with a rolled up fake $100 bill jutting out of it, and also comes with a plastic baggie of more “cocaine” plus a coke spoon.

While some find this sort of thing hilarious, others are predictably outraged at the restaurant for glorifying the drug trade and idolizing a drug lord.

One person commented on the restaurant’s Facebook page: “Glorifying drug addiction and joking about it through your presentation methods is really stupid and insensitive.”

“You are so naive. I hope you one day actually talk to a Colombian and realise how offensive your restaurant is,” another user wrote.

But Pablo’s Escoburgers shot right back and posted on Facebook, saying: “Lovers love our burgers and haters are always going to hate! Not all Colombians are going to love our name but they all love our burgers.”

The restaurant’s co-owner Vaughn Marks went on to explain in a statement posted on Facebook titled “Not Here To Offend” that they “are very proud of our burgers but we do also understand that Pablo Escobar was a horrible man who destroyed the lives of thousands of Colombians.

“We do not condone, idolize or promote Pablo Emilio Escobar or his actions in anyway. We are however Australian and know how to have a laugh about a good play on words.

“Its just a name of a pop-up burger bar not really a theme. Hard not to offend someone in 2019.”

Honestly, though, when Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland announced he’d be hosting his epic failure of a festival on Pablo Escobar’s island in the Bahamas, no one seemed to care.

In fact, attendees of the doomed gathering were really excited about the idea of staying on his island…but sadly it didn’t work out–the festival or the island.

‘Hobbs & Shaw’ First Official Trailer Is a High-Octane Thrill Ride

The first official trailer for Fast and the Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, is here, and it sure looks like a helluva good time.

The big-budget action bonanza stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham as Deckhard Shaw, and badass former Maxim cover dude Idris Elba as the movie’s villain, Brixton.

Directed by David Leitch, best known for Deadpool 2 and John Wick, the high-octane trailer features plenty of gunplay, supercar chases, helicopter fights, at least one death-defying skyscraper stunt, and plenty of winking action hero utterances, most notably The Rock declaring, “I’m what you call a nice cold can of whup ass.”

Watch the trailer above for Hobbs & Shaw, which hits theaters this summer.

Puma Releasing Self-Lacing Sneakers to Take on Nike

Puma just unveiled self-lacing sneakers that will literally give Nike’s a run for their money.

The German sportswear brand calls its high-tech kicks “Puma Fi.” Fi is short for “Fit Intelligence,” an interface designed to automate and tweak how the shoes fit to a wearer’s individual specifications.

Like Nike’s Swoosh-bearing Adapt BB, the Puma Fi can be paired to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

The biggest difference is that they don’t automatically tighten, but are instead adjusted by swiping up or down on a Fi module that houses a battery-powered micromotor and “cable system,” i.e laces.

It takes just an hour to charge them up for a week on a wireless charging plate.

With a breathable upper and industrial-grade fiber support system, Puma says the futuristic footwear is suited to the gym or the street, though the look is admittedly more utilitarian than stylish.

Fortune reports that the Puma Fi won’t be available until next year, but a select group of 20 fans and a few celebrities—including five-time Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton—will beta test them before they go on sale in spring of 2020 for $330. That’s $20 less than the cost of Nike’s Adapt BB, if you’re keeping track.

“We’re on the ten-yard line,” Charles Johnson, Puma’s global director of innovation, told Fortune.

“The product is working, we’ve got it functional but we really want to have some additional learning before we bring it to market.”’

Let the self-lacing sneaker wars begin–Back to the Future‘s Marty McFly would be proud.

Teens who vape are more likely to smoke cigarettes later

Teens who start vaping are nearly three times more likely to go on to smoke cigarettes than their peers who don’t use any type of tobacco product, a new study finds. The results are alarming for both medical experts — who would rather kids not smoke — and for the e-cigarette industry, which is increasingly marketing its products as smoking-cessation tools for adults.

Today’s study, published in the journal JAMA Network Open, couldn’t say whether vaping caused the kids to go on to smoking. But the study authors did find some pretty strong associations between vaping and later cigarette smoking, particularly for kids who would normally be considered “low risk” for substance use: the ones that aren’t big on thrill-seeking, drinking, or…

Samsung’s lower-cost Galaxy S10 has leaked

Samsung is rumored to have a lower-cost version of the Galaxy S10 in the works, and it looks like images of that phone have just leaked. WinFuture published a series of images this morning showing off a phone they believe will be called the Galaxy S10E — a 5.8-inch version with thicker bezels, dual cameras, and a smaller battery.

The phone is supposed to sell for around $859. That’s by no means “low cost,” but it’s in the same ballpark as the iPhone XR, which sells for $799. The two phones even seem to share a lot in common: they’re lower-end versions of flagship devices that look largely the same, just with some slight visual and technical downgrades.

Like the iPhone XR, one big difference on the S10E…
