I Like Sports

Ethan Kuperberg humorously writes about the ways in which a man might be interested in sports as a culturally acceptable way to express emotion.

30 Under $30: Earrings We Should Both Buy on a Whim

While under-$100 finds still require some thoughtful consideration before purchasing, and an under-$50 item is great but also not entirely guilt-free, an under-$30 pair of earrings is one of those things I would buy with my eyes closed, as long as someone I trusted told me they were cool. After all, it’s not often you can find affordable jewelry that doesn’t look cheap, and with accessory trends constantly changing, it’s nice to stay on the safe side and stick to lower-priced pieces when you can.

Speaking of trends, you’ll soon notice that at the moment, gold hoops, pearls, and crystal statement earrings are all the rage, and thus make up a big portion of the below. But if none of those are quite your thing, not to worry because I’ve got plenty of other options, too. So with that, just keep scrolling to shop the best under-$30 earrings on the internet right now, and be sure to spread the love and share these finds with your friends.

As seen here and in the above street style snap, non-basic hoop are especially in the spotlight right now.
The perfect combination of two classic styles.
These could work for a party, but would be even cooler with jeans and a t-shirt in the day.
These might just be my favorite of the bunch.
I love a little statement hoop.
80’s glamour continues to feel relevant.
Valentine’s Day gift, anyone?
Everyday statement earrings you won’t regret buying.
These are very similar to the everyday earrings I never take off.
Don’t shy away from styling these with equally colorful outfits.
Don’t you feel like everyone on Instagram has some version of these?
Double hoops are definitely a thing right now.
There’s no end to how many pearl earrings I want right now.
Hearts are still very much on trend.
I’m so into the atypical shape of these enamel earrings.
Perfect for pairing with your hair pulled back.
What?!
Mango has really been killing it with the accessories lately.
For $10, take a risk with these fun earrings.
This peachy color is the perfect non-basic neutral.
Wear these with an all-black outfit for some contrast.
Can’t go wrong with a classic.
I love the color of these.
Just edgy enough.
Easy and elegant.
Wear your heart on your…ear?
Sharp in the best way.
Everyone needs one pair like this.
The gold encasing makes these geometric earrings unique.
For the girls who like to mix and match.

No matter how you identify your style—ecclectic, minimal, trend-forward—there’s no doubt denim is an important part of your wardrobe. Since there is truly no limit to the ways in which one can style this closet staple, sometimes, we find ourselves stuck in a denim styling rut, wearing the same outfit over and over again. If you find yourself in this predicament as often as I do, then it’s time we call in for backup.

When looking for simple yet effective outfit inspiration, we turn to the French. Their style is always clean and always approachable—two traits that go perfectly with denim. Ahead, take a look at the French-girl denim outfits we are trying to cop before the end of this year. From ultra-cool ensembles to simple yet striking ones, the selection ahead is sure to get your denim wheels turning.

I’m Taking a Hard Pass on These Royal-Approved Fashion Items

As we’ve discussed in the past, the British royal family’s strict set of unspoken fashion “rules” undoubtedly has a way of hindering their personal style preferences. (Although, Meghan Markle has been making an attempt to subtly break some of them.) For that reason, it’s somewhat tricky for them to try the latest trends or experiment with a new look, both of which are things that I enjoy doing. You could say that the typical royal family wardrobe is dated, but I find it to be more conservative and classic than dated.

I wouldn’t call my style particularly conservative, and much of what the royal family regularly wears just doesn’t appeal to me, even though they always look chic. I just can’t see myself pulling off a sheath dress and a pillbox hat anytime soon, but there are other items that are royal family–approved that I would wear.

Keep scrolling to check out the royal-approved fashion items I’m skipping, and shop the ones I’m wearing instead.

But hey, better late than never, right? Plus, I need to be doing something to balance out this and this.

So that’s what we’re doing today. We’re prepping for the week ahead with these make-ahead smoothie freezer-packs!

Simply assemble your smoothie ingredients into mason jars, pop them into the freezer and freeze. (You can also use quart-size freezer bags if you don’t have enough space in the freezer. Either will work just perfectly.)

That’s it. I’m serious. That’s really really it.

When you’re ready for your smoothie, simply take out your jar from the freezer and blend with your choice of milk. Boom. Done.

7 Things You Must Own If You Always Wear Skinny Jeans

So you live in skinny jeans. Hey, live your life—the style is more or less a classic at this point (depite what some may say). While you may have a go-to way of wearing skinnies, there are specific pieces worth owning to ensure your skinny jean outfits are always forward and exciting. Sure, you can never go wrong with the whole T-shirt and jeans, but that same old denim look can start to feel a bit tired after a while. Right? That’s why it’s important to have those always-cool staples (ahem, oversize outerwear) and unique accessories (looking at you, knee-high boots) to bring your skinnies to the next level. Keep scrolling to uncover the seven things to add to your closet if you swear by your tried-and-true skinnies.

The 20-Piece 2019 Fashion Insider Wardrobe

We’re all curious about which items will define the fashion insider wardrobe in 2019. I’m especially interested in which pieces stylish women will own this year, so I reached out to find out what’s sitting in their closets and in their shopping carts. I wanted to learn which items they’ll be wearing in the near future—but before I spot them on their Instagram feeds or in snaps from fashion month. And their selects will no doubt inspire some of your future purchases.

From a new take on designer denim to the print we’ll see all over the street style scene to the buzzy shoe designer everyone is talking about (and more), these are the items stylish women across the globe are adding to their shopping carts. Go on to see which pieces fashion insiders are including in their wardrobes in 2019. Shop their picks ahead, and scroll to the end to see which items are on this editor’s shopping list.

“These boots were love at first sight, I’ll wear them now with jeans and later with gauzy white minidresses.”
“I love wide-leg denim and always have. These really up the ante.”
“I’ve thought about buying this bag for too long, and since I love an off-season (and in season!) basket bag I’m finally just going to do it.”
“This spring, I’m doing my best to approach trends in a more sustainable way. I want to make sure that I’m adding pieces to my closet that feel true to my personal style and that I’ll want to hold on to for at least a few years. This means thinking through my purchases before I pull the trigger. Blame it on Marie Kondo, or perhaps the fact that I live in a tiny NYC studio, but there has to be a better reason than just ‘It’s cool right now’ to bring something home with me. I’ve greatly undervalued belts, and am finally realizing how versatile and transformative they can be, so I’m trying to add a few key styles into my weekly wardrobe.”
“While I’ll forever be a jeans girl, I’ve found myself drawn to the polish and ease of wide-leg trousers. Even on the weekends, I love that they look effortlessly sophisticated but are still so comfortable.”
“By Far is one of my favorite accessories brands at the moment. My one fault: Everything sells out so quickly that I miss out! Its bags and shoes have a bit of a ’90s bent but still feel so modern.”
“I really connected with Rejina Pyo’s latest collection. It truly feels like every piece could be part of my closet.”
“I’m obsessed with a simple mule. I feel it pulls together any outfit and adds a classic feel to it. These Amina Muaddi’s are my new obsession.”
“I love the elevated shape of this blazer. It adds a strong power presence to the body shape and draws attention to the person rather than the look. I’m all about that.”
“I’ve been craving this Brock denim. I love the cut and wash, so I’m finally gonna get them.”
“I am really into the California surf culture trend we saw for spring 2019, so tie-dye will be incorporated into my wardrobe in a major way. Case in point: this Prada crossbody bag.”
“You can’t do surf culture without a hoodie—plus I have loved everything from Proenza Schouler’s PSWL line since it first launched in 2017.”
“The number of Balenciaga knife mules that I have collected is a running joke in the office, so why not keep it going with this graffiti pair?”
“I wear jeans five out of seven days of the week, so that justifies adding a pair at this price point to my closet.”
“I’m adding a chic, fitted trench to my wardrobe this year. I’ve realized most of my warmer pieces are either puffers or coats with not a lot of shape. Something with a defined waistline will make me feel more polished for things like dinner dates on colder nights!”
“It’s time to invest in a large carry-all for work. Mini bags are great on the weekends and at night, but this is for when I need to be prepared for anything, such as long shoot days.”
“Lastly, I’m adding some more elevated workout outfits to my wardrobe.”
“A baggy tee and leggings combo are fine sometimes, but a two-piece set always makes me feel put-together at the gym!”
Minimal pieces with utility details are high on my list of items to invest in for 2019. This faux-leather jacket from Low Classic checks each of those boxes.
There is something so romantic and delicate about this top that I love.

A French Girl Walks Into a Drugstore—Here Are the Beauty Products She Buys

We’re all wildly familiar with (and envious of) French women’s style, which is famed for its timeless, effortless vibes. But French women’s beauty routines are worthy of equal attention. Unlike the beauty aisles of American drugstores, which are fathomless infernos of too many products, the French pharmacie is a place of modest wonder—offering just a handful of affordable skincare, makeup, and haircare brands that help French women keep their skin clear and their hair healthy without overspending or too much fuss.

Aspiring to approach drugstore beauty like a French girl, we hit up a handful of our favorite French fashion influencers and asked them this: If you were to walk into a pharmacy and buy two or three beauty products, what would they be? Keep scrolling to find their answers.

French women like Ellie of @slipintostyle are collectively obsessed with this iconic makeup remover, which has a super-gentle, vitamin E–rich formula—perfect for sensitive skin.
Aloe vera and shea butter are a couple of the key ingredients in this impossibly light, milky moisturizer, which protects the skin’s moisture barrier without clogging pores.
This moisturizer for dry feet and cracked heels is an unexpected French-girl staple: The nourishing, anti-inflammatory formula is packed with shea butter, lipo-aminoacids, and vitamin A.
French women swear by this classic face mist for its soothing, skin-softening action. Spritz this stuff after cleansing (before moisturizing) or at any point throughout the day to reap its complexion-calming benefits.
Consistently delivering high-performance formulas, drugstore skincare brand La Roche-Posay has a place in almost every French beauty guru’s arsenal. This ultra-moisturizing day cream is a staple in Parisian influencer Barbara Malewicz’s routine.
This multi-purpose combination of plant oils and vitamin E can be used on the face, body, or hair as a nourishing, repairing treatment. Its smell alone is worth the price tag.
Parisian influencer Monica de La Villardière calls this shampoo-conditioner combo “super nutrition for your hair.”
For only $9, this ridiculously rich conditioner repairs dry and damaged hair, leaving it soft and bouncy in that nonchalant French-girl way.
It’s so hard to find a non-greasy, non-chalky, non-stinky sunscreen at the drugstore—that’s why this featherlight, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free formula is such a gem.
No need to spend $50 on a face scrub—this little-known dermatologist-approved formula uses both physical and chemical exfoliation to keep the skin bright and breakout-free.
This super-healing, balm-like moisturizer for dry and sensitive skin has a permanent place in Paris fashion girl Franny Fyne’s medicine cabinet.
