Watch Ryan Bader Destroy Fedor Emelianenko in 35 Seconds to Become Bellator Double Champ
Well, that didn’t take long.

Saturday night, Ryan Bader entered the final of the Bellator MMA Heavyweight World Grand Prix tournament (Bellator 214) facing the prospect of going toe-to-toe with a stone cold MMA legend in Fedor Emelianenko. With one devastating left hook, he became the first dual division champ in the promotion’s history. It only took him 35 seconds to get there.
With his 27-5 record, Bader was already the reigning 205-lb champion. In taking down Emelianenko, whom some say is one of the greatest heavyweight mixed martial artists ever, he seemed to surprise himself as much as anyone.
Bader’s sportsmanship was in evidence in comments made after his victory. “I had a great night,” he said, “but [Emelianenko] has had a storied career and is one of the best to ever do it. It’s an honor for me to be in the cage with him and win the heavyweight title competing against that man. I have a ton of respect for him.”
The 35-year-old Bader’s victory filled a Bellator heavyweight throne that had been gathering dust since previous champ Vitaly Minakov lost his belt in 2016 due to basically doing nothing to keep it after he won it in 2014.
Bader has been the Bellator light heavyweight titleholder since 2017. Within the promotion his overall record is 12-1. Now that he’s shouldering two belts, he’s got a lot to think about.
“My team and I have to get with Bellator and figure out where we want to be but I want to defend” both belts, Bader said.
Apple’s iOS 12.2 beta points to customized Downtime scheduling

A recently released developer’s beta for iOS 12.2 shows that Apple will allow some customization for its Downtime feature. Users will now be able to adjust the Screen Time feature to account for days of the week, according to 9to5Mac.
Apple introduced the feature with iOS12 last year, which allows users to set some imposed limits for their apps based on the time of day, something that’s useful if they want to cut back. their usage. The feature essentially turns off apps (you can whitelist some essential ones, or give yourself some more time) after a certain amount of time (say 2 hour per day) or to kick in after a certain hour of the day (like 7PM).

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward podcast is like Serial mixed with True Detective

A young man named Charles Dexter Ward goes missing from his locked room in a Rhode Island institution, while his psychiatrist, Dr. Jonathon Willett later travels to Britain to murder a woman. That’s the start of a new podcast series from BBC Radio 4, based on an H.P. Lovecraft novel called The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, which follows a pair of investigative reporters working on a fictional true-crime podcast, Mystery Machine.
Set in 1928 in Providence, Rhode Island, the original novel appeared in the horror magazine Weird Tales in 1941, a couple of years after Lovecraft died. It follows a mystery of an institutionalized man, Charles Dexter Ward who vanishes from his cell, while his family’s doctor, Marinus Bicknell Willett, tries to…

Take this test to figure out how tone-deaf you are

Over at Harvard University, the department of psychology has opened a new lab to study the science of music. While this is sure to lead to plenty of interesting research in the future, the important takeaway from this news is that the Music Lab has created a citizen science platform where the general public can take various music quizzes and contribute to research.
Currently, the site has four tests, which we can all take to figure out how well we truly understand music.

How tone-deaf are you?
Listen to a series of tones and then try to indicate as quickly as you can whether the last tone is going up or down. Most of them were easy, but some of the tone differences can be very hard to distinguish. This is my least favorite of the…
