The new season of Black Mirroris coming this month…if a leaked Netflix schedule is to be believed.
The Mirror reports that episode 1 of Season 5 of the acclaimed dystopian anthology series will supposedly arrive on December 28, according to a tweet that briefly appeared in the feed of the sci-fi-oriented @NXOnNetflix account.
The now-deleted post also indicates that the premiere will be titled “Bandersnatch”—an apparent reference to a fictional creature famously described in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking-Glass.
Forbes notes that the date has some precedent. Season 4 of Black Mirror dropped on the last Friday of 2017, and a December 28th release would fall on the last Friday of this year.
It was previously reported that an interactive “choose your own adventure” episode would be featured in the the forthcoming installment of Charlie Brooker’s hit sci-fi series.
We’ll find out if Black Mirror fans will get a late Christmas present soon enough.
Analogue’s Super Nt is a gorgeous, powerful aftermarket Super Nintendo. Ghostly International is one of the world’s premier electronic music labels. Now, the two have joined forces for a limited edition console, complete with custom Ghostly powered startup sounds.
Today, Analogue is revealing the Ghostly LE version of the Super Nt. Like the standard model, it’s a console designed to play your old SNES cartridges on a modern TV, with a whole host of extra features. (You can find out more about it in our review.)
The Ghostly edition is different in a few ways. It sports a bright, clean shade of white, for one thing, along with the label’s logo right on the front. More interesting, though, is that it also has seven distinct…
Barnes & Noble made a new Nook that’s on sale today, continuing its line of recent offerings that prove the Kindle rival is still alive and kicking. The latest Nook is Barnes & Noble’s smallest and cheapest model yet: a 7-inch model that costs $49.99.
The book giant announced a new Nook at the start of November that featured the company’s largest display at 10.1 inches. That Nook had 32GB of storage that could be expanded up to 256GB. You can also run Google Play apps on the Nook.
As expected, the 7-inch Nook is a scaled-down version of its bigger sibling. It starts off at 16GB of storage and maxes out at 128GB. Instead of a 1920 x 1200 resolution, it has a 1024 x 600…
We thought LG’s 17-inch Gram laptop was on the way, and today, Best Buy listed the device online. The new LG Gram is intriguing not just because it ships with a 17-inch, 2560 x 1600 IPS display, but also because it weighs less than three pounds.
By comparison, a 17-inch Windows laptop from HP or Dell weighs almost double that. The Asus VivoBook Pro is on the lighter side at 4.6 pounds, but LG has done better. Usually, 17-inch laptops are thought of as desktop replacements, but the Gram is one you shouldn’t have much trouble carrying with you. Apple doesn’t make a 17-inch MacBook Pro anymore; it discontinued its last one in 2012. All of this is to say, a 17-inch display that weighs less than three pounds is incredible.
A few scammy iOS applications have been taking advantage of Apple’s Touch ID platform by trying to trick users into making payments with false promises of using the fingerprint scans for fitness data, according to ESET’s WeLiveSecurity blog.
The two apps — called “Fitness Balance” and “Calories Tracker” — were spotted by various Reddit users over the last week, and both employ similar tactics. As part of their so-called “fitness tracking,” the apps ask users to place their fingerprint on the Touch ID scanner for 10 seconds, to “create personalized diet and other stuff.” While a user’s finger is placed on the pad, the app pops up an in-app purchase payment request for sums of money like $99.99. Since the user’s finger is already on the…
We’re all in on the holiday traditions right now, including (but not limited to) Christmas stockings and the goodies that gets stuffed into them. Those kinds of tiny, thoughtful tokens go a long way, because not everything has to be a lavish grand gesture, right? Sometimes, the little things mean the most.
It’s extra nice to extend that sentiment to the people who help keep your life on track: a coworker, the kids’ teachers, the babysitter, the dog walker, the front-desk staff that always gets you in for an appointment. So spare them another gift card, and give presents that will get some use.
This week, hot on the heels of National Sock Day, Bare Necessitieshosiery buyer Kelly Morales is here to point out her favorite holiday “stockings.”
HOLIDAY SPIRIT SOCKS
Much like pajamas, it’s the season for festive footwear.
“Fun socks have the power to make every day a little happier,” said Kelly. Her gotta-haves for the holidays include PJ Salvage Cozy Winter Socks because they’re one size as well as universally adorable. “I love the touch of fleece, the classic reindeer motif and the no-slip sole,” said Kelly. From the leader in cheeky socks come these Hot Sox Christmas Tree Crew Socks with snowflake grips on the sole. You’ll want to wear them as often as possible counting down to Christmas. And since socks are pretty much a required present for one of Hanukkah’s eight nights, consider Hot Sox Oy Vey Slipper Socks, with dreidels dancing underfoot.
FOR THE PET PAL
Kelly suggests stuffing stockings with witty nods to their four-legged friends for a grand-slam of a gift.
Cat lovers and/or your Secret Santa recipient will double over laughing when they unwrap the unapologetically ridiculous Stance Santipaws Invisible Socks. The only thing better than the Persian-as-Santa design is the fact that these are seamless, no-show socks with serious arch support. They may find excuses to wear them year-round. For a classic cable-knit slipper, you’ve got the HUE Cozy Critter Slipper Socks, which festoon feet with fox, cats, dogs and mice, each with a fluffy cotton-ball tail. And P.J. Salvage’s French Bull Dog Socks are so ridiculously plush, it won’t matter if you’re allergic to pets; you’re going to want them regardless.
FOR THE LUXE-LOVER
There are socks, and there are socks.
Stay cozy in a chilly house with a roaring fire and a luxe pair of UGG Pom Pom Fleece Lined Crew Socks that are as much about fashion as they are function—tweens on up would love a pair. Or stock up on HUE Chenille Crew Socks and dole them out, Santa-style, to the ladies in your life. You can’t beat their price, feel or good looks with a stick, and you don’t even have to know their shoe size.
SPECIAL GIFT SETS
Q: What’s better than a pair of socks for the holidays? A: Many pairs of socks for the holidays.
Of course, socks can only take you so far. Now and then, a stepped-up look calls for tights and leggings.
That’s when one, if wise, turns to DKNY. The new Skin Sense collection puts a fleece lining behind every silky pair of high-end tights, thigh highs and leggings. No more dreading getting all dressed up in the depths of winter.
