The Top 6 Trends People Actually Bought in 2018

Don’t you want to know? We did too. So, when we recently had the chance to chat with Shopbop Fashion Director Caroline Maguire at the company’s epic holiday party this week, we couldn’t help but ask: What trends did people buy a lot of this year? As it turns out, many of the same pieces we here at Who What Wear loved were the ones everyone else did too! From embellished accessories to fun faux-fur coats, it really was a good year for statement pieces in fashion but, of course, some reemerged classics as well. With such good iterations of all of them from our favorite brands, I have a feeling they’ll be sticking around for a few more seasons, too.

If you want to see and shop all six of the trends for yourself before the year comes to an end—or they sell out!—just keep scrolling.

How to Dress at the Airport This Winter: 7 Celebs Who Make It Look Easy

If we’re being honest, figuring out what to wear to the airport during the winter is really confusing. Whether you’re leaving one cold place and are heading to another cold place or are jet-setting to the deserved warm-weather vacation of your dreams, the fact of the matter is that planes aren’t cold inside (well, okay, relatively speaking). So, again, we find ourselves confused about what to wear on our way to the airport, during the flight, and after. Somehow you’re sweating, freezing, or both within hours of each other. Yeah, it’s pretty much just an all-around mess.

However, there are a handful of people who somehow always manage to get winter airport outfit dressing just right, and that’s celebrities. Considering just how much the women ahead travel on a regular basis, it should come as no surprise that they know how to dress for a flight. Ahead, check out the recent winter airport outfits celebs like Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, and Heidi Klum have worn that actually make sense.

There’s nothing wrong with wearing your winter accessories on the plane. Considering how small something like a beanie is, we’re fairly certain you’ll find room to stow it somewhere in the seat compartment in front of you. A leather trench and cozy joggers make this look feel sleek yet practical for a winter airport appearance.
Just because you’re getting on a plane doesn’t mean you have to wear boring clothing. Instead of packing that statement coat in your suitcase, wear it while you’re en route and be the most eye-catching thing on your flight. Your seatmates will (or should) thank you.
While we definitely advise against wearing rigid denim on a flight, for obvious reasons, we never said anything about rigid denim in a boyfriend jean silhouette. With a wide-enough leg, jeans of any kind can feel like your comfiest sweatpants. Top the look with a simple sweater and you’re ready to travel.
Wear your coziest cardigan (which is probably the one that would take up the most room in your suitcase) as a top. Pair it with black jeans that have a little stretch and black ankle boots. You’re welcome for this no-brainer winter outfit idea.
Want to wear pajamas but feel weird doing it on a plane? Try a knit matching set instead. This outfit has the feel of pajamas but looks like it just came off the runway. Again, you’re welcome.
This trick is one that’s tried and true—wear your biggest coat on the plane so you don’t have to pack it. Plus, whether you’re leaving somewhere cold or landing somewhere cold, you’ll be able to adapt to your winter surroundings without digging through all your bags.
If you’re not a “leggings as pants” kind of girl, try pairing the athleisure staple with a bigger statement jacket and a graphic T-shirt. Sneakers and sleek accessories will help give you the feeling that you are, in fact, wearing a real outfit.

It’s a miracle, guys. It’s mac and cheese without any of the fuss!

Now this recipe will come in particularly handy during the holidays, especially because it doesn’t take up any oven or stovetop space!

I’m serious. Even the uncooked pasta gets cooked right in the actual crockpot!

Plus, there’s no condensed soups, no velveeta, no nothing. This bad boy is completely homemade, and it’s so stinking creamy, it’ll get you weak in the knees.

And I threw in some broccoli because I guess we’ll need some veggies in our diet. But you’ll barely notice it. PROMISE.

Just be sure to keep a close eye on this. It’s best to serve immediately (as with most mac and cheeses) and to avoid keeping this on the WARM function as it will continue to cook in the slow cooker.

Simply serve, devour, and nap. That’s what we did!

I’m Proposing a Ban on This Color, Starting Now

Hear ye, hear ye—due to offensive winter weather conditions and a proactive spirit, I hereby propose a swift and immediate ban on the color black, particularly as it pertains to wearing said color head to toe. Why am I writing like a duke in Queen Elizabeth I’s court? Unsure. Why am I proposing a ban on wearing all black? Much surer on that front. Since moving to the East Coast three and a half years ago, I’ve assimilated to the city’s adoration with a head-to-toe black uniform. Many people will wax poetic about the ease and sleekness of dressing like this, and though I don’t disagree (see: exhibit A that it is), I do argue that there’s something dreadfully gloomy about a sea of cold humans shuffling around in the snow in solely black clothing. My solution (and really the only solution possible)? Wear. More. Color.

As simple as it may sound to any Los Angeles folk reading this on their sundecks (I used to be one of those, you know), cobbling together an outfit that incorporates thoughtful elements of color each and every day is not easy. After all, we New Yorkers get dressed not only for work daily but also for a variety of scenarios ranging from dinners, after-work drinks, dates, musicals, etc., but without the convenience of cars to store our junk in. In other words, it’s tough out here, and the only way to get more color in our lives is by following others’ example. Below, I’ve pulled together an edit of 10 outfits illustrating how to not wear all black this winter, and look great doing it. Steal the looks, shop the picks, thrive all season long. Let’s go.

Contrast a white coat and booties with a pop of color, like a vibrant green jumper.

Instead of a heavy black coat, consider rotating in a Crayola-hued puffer.

Resist the temptation of solid sweaters and reach for one with an interesting pattern, like Fair Isle.

If there’s a black coat in the equation, then team it with bold, bright separates.

Wrap up in the teddy texture trend for winter.

Add a pair of plaid slacks to your repertoire.

Put your black Chelsea boots back in the closet and reach for a pair of snake-print booties instead.

There’s no dreary enough of a day that a statement coat can’t make better.

Stay cozy this winter in a knit dress.

Do your pants have personality? If not, invest in a pair, friends.
